What You Need To Know: Acrobat is a super fun balance game for kids ages 5 and up, and can be played with up to 8 players.

It comes with 20 cardboard discs with 12 colorful spots on each disc,

57 wooden acrobat pieces,

3 wooden dice, and a storage bag (not shown here).

The idea of the game is to figure out how to balance the discs on top of the wooden acrobats without the tower falling. The person who knocks it down first loses (so don’t knock it down:p).

Here’s how you play:

First, divide the discs and wooden pieces equally between all the players.

On your turn, roll all 3 dice and place the wooden acrobats (acrobats could be any color) on the matching spots on the discs.

For example, the picture below shows that the dice landed on purple, red, and orange.

This means that the acrobats are placed on top of the purple, red, and orange spots. If there are multiple spots of the same color, the player chooses the spots that the pieces are less likely to fall from (strategy is involved here).

Once you’re done, the next player places a disc over your acrobats and the game continues on the 2nd level.

How many discs do you think you can stack before the tower tumbles? Hint: This game is not as easy as it seems.

Why I Love It: Acrobat is a totally unique and engaging game (even for older players). I also haven’t seen many stacking games that involve more than one player, so the turn-taking aspect is awesome. This makes a great family game as well!

Skills this works on: Problem-solving, thinking ahead, decision making, turn-taking, fine motor skills, and concentration.
